A very impressive and entertaining Chile beat Honuras in a one sided game. Chile could have scored more than their strike in the 34th minute and look like a good prospect to progress further in the tournament.
Honduras 0 v 1 Chile
Heroic Switzerland provided a major shock in the world cup with an amazing 1-0 victory over Spain. The European Champions could not break down the resolute Swiss defence and fell behind to a swift breakaway, which resulted in chaos in the Spanish defence allowing the Swiss to scamble home a precious goal. Spain managed to hit the bar from distance but the Swiss managed to produce another break and could have gone two goals up with only the woodwork saving Spain further embaressment. Spain 0 v 1 Switzerland
Chile managed to maintain their 100% record in the world cup with a fine, spirited performance against Switzerland. The Swiss, who now hold the record for the longest world cup run before conceding a goal, were reduced to 10 men when Behraml was sent off in the 31st minute following an elbow on a Chilian player. In a match of few really clear cut chances Gonzalez headed the winner in the 75th minute. Despite this there was a moment of drama when the Swiss missed a virual open goal in the 89th minute. The referee tried his best to spoil the game with his fussy officiating, however the fast, moving, enterprising football of the Chile team made this victory well deserved.
Result Chile 1 v 0 Switzerland
Spain dominated this game playing some of the excellent football which was mysteriously missing from their opening match. David Villa was Spain's star player scoring twice and also missing a penalty as Honduras found it impossible to keep pace with the current European Champions.
Result.....Spain 2 v 0 Honduras
