In a disappointing match with few opportunities, both teams cancelled each other out. The only real highlights were an amazing stike by Cristiano Ronaldo for Portugal, which hit the post from long distance and the welcome introduction in the second half of Didier Drogba after his recovery from injury.
Ivory Coast 0 v 0 Portugal
In one of the most fascinating matches in the world cup so far North Korea provided a superb display against Brazil. Many had expected this to be a mis-match with the Koreans, ranked 105 in the world facing the number 1 ranked team. However with North Korea setting a 5-3-2 formation and playing neat, composed football the Brazil team found it almost impossible to break through and the Korean's were able to create some good chances themselves on the break. However Brazil took the lead early in the second half when Maicon's apparent cross flew straight into the net beating the Korean goalkeeper at the near post. The Brazil team then visibly relaxed and added a second goal in the 72nd minute. However the Korean side were not finished and gained a superb goal in the 89th minute with Y Ji finishing. Brazil 2 v 1 N.Korea
Brazil maintained their 100% record cruising to a fine 3-1 win against the Ivory Coast. A goal in each half from Fabiano and one from Elano sent Brazil three goals up before Didier Drogba scored a consolation for the Ivory Coast. Ivory Coast 1 v 3 Brazil
Portugal provided a sensational second half display to beat North Korea 7-0 in a superb display of clinical finishing. Despite the score the game was close in the first half with the Portugese only leading by one goal but six second half goals demolished the spirit of the Koreans and sent Portugal into their final match against Brazil in high confidence In a bitterly disappointing game Brazil and Portugal played out a very uninspiring 0-0- draw. Some might remember Germany v Austria in 1982 but while there was no doubting the competitive spirit in this game the lack of inspired play certainly made the match a terrible spectacle comparible to that infamouse encounter. The game was littred with petty fouls and, with both teams knowing that a draw would be sufficient for them both to progress, neither team was willing to take any risks. Brazil 0 v 0 Portugal With the Ivory Coast needing a big win and for Brazil to beat Portugal handsomely the African's could be forgiven for feeling let down after Brazil's weak performance in the other game. For their own sake Ivory Coast did their part with a 3-0 victory over the North Koreans. Both of these teams head home with the Ivory Coast team in partifular feeling they had not realised their potential in the competition. North Korea 0 v 3 Ivory Coast
